Copenhagen metro: powering a fully automated urban transport network
Overview
The Copenhagen Metro is a fully automated transport network with 44 stations, operating driverless trains and supporting continuous urban mobility. The network is constantly expanding with new lines and stations.
Challenges
Ensuring reliable power in a metro environment requires:
- Continuous power for signalling and train control systems
- Support for station operations (ticketing, passenger information, emergency lighting)
- Reliable energy supply for data centres and network operation centres (NOC)
- Robust systems adapted to underground and remote environments
Solution
CE+T Power, working closely with its local partner and the metro operator, deployed a customized modular Flexa UPS architecture across the metro infrastructure:
- More than 80 UPS systems installed across stations
- Approximately 300 Flexa modules in operation
- Systems in service for over 8 years
- Each power system was sized and configured according to the operational, technical and environmental requirements
Each system is configured to ensure high availability and protection of critical loads, including signaling, control, and communication systems.
