As part of our ongoing series introducing the people behind CE+T Power, we are delighted to feature Faizal Wahid, our new Sales Manager for the APAC region. With more than 20 years of international experience in engineering, electric mobility, and energy storage, Faizal brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to our growing sales team.
Faizal’s arrival also marks a new step for CE+T in the APAC region. He is currently in a handover with Wald Kerschot (our former APAC Sales Manager, now leading the Australian office). This transition will allow him to gradually take over client relationships and regional responsibilities, while building on the strong foundation already established in the region.
Could you share with us your (educational) background?
«I studied Electrical Engineering with a focus on Mechatronics at a local university in Malaysia. Over the years, I’ve accumulated more than two decades of professional experience, starting as a manufacturing engineer at Texas Instruments in the automotive sensors industry. My career has given me opportunities to work across the globe, including in the United States (Massachusetts) and China, before moving into electric mobility in 2014. At BYD, I was the project manager for the world’s first elevated Electric Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, a pioneering project that replaced train systems with electric buses. Later, I worked with battery manufacturers, focusing on both electric mobility and stationary applications such as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in Brisbane, Australia. After several years of working remotely from Malaysia, I joined CE+T Power.»
What led you to CE+T?
«The electric mobility business is highly cyclical, often tied to government projects with 3–5 year cycles. Missing one of those cycles can be a challenge. I wanted a role where I could build on my past experience while contributing to long-term sustainable projects, and that’s when I found CE+T Power.»
What are your expectations for your role at CE+T?
«As I’ll be working remotely, my goal is to quickly become independent and fully take on the APAC market within three months. For now, I’m absorbing as much knowledge as possible about our products and the company spirit, so I can represent CE+T Power effectively across the region.»
What drives you about being a sales manager?
«Coming from Malaysia, I’ve always worked in international, multicultural environments. I’m motivated by building meaningful relationships with customers and helping them find the right solutions to succeed.»
Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies and interests?
«I’m a proud father of three boys (18, 16, and 10) and very family-oriented. In my free time, I enjoy cycling and playing the guitar: I’m even the lead guitarist in a metal band!»
