For healthcare providers, like Medical Santo, based in the northern city of Luganville, an uninterrupted 24/7 power supply is vital. X-ray machines, life-saving equipment, and critical refrigeration for medicines, depend entirely on consistent, clean energy.

Recognising this urgent need, Australian company CD Power took on a bold challenge: to design and deliver a standalone, disaster-resistant off-grid system capable of providing constant, reliable power in one of the world’s most demanding environments.
At the heart of their innovative solution lies CE+T’s Sierra technology, a modular converter system that ensures seamless power delivery even under extreme conditions. Paired with CE+T’s Inview monitoring, the system offers real-time visibility and control, guaranteeing that essential medical equipment receives steady, secure, round-the-clock power.
“Medical Santo needed a solution that not only safeguarded sensitive medical equipment but could also be easily maintained,” explains CE+T’s Ian Rowlands. “That’s where our Sierra modules really shine. Their hot-swappable design means maintenance can be done without ever interrupting supply. Combined with the precision of InView, the system delivers a clean, consistent voltage that healthcare technology demands.”

The complete Standalone Power System (SPS36) — integrates:
- 15 kW solar PV array to harness Vanuatu’s abundant sunlight
- 55 kWh actively-cooled lithium iron phosphate battery for reliable storage
- CE+T Sierra converters (36 kVA) with Inview monitoring
- Backup generator for added resilience.
Since installation, Medical Santo has operated entirely off-grid, ensuring 24/7 access to life-saving energy. The results have been transformative, enabling continuous healthcare delivery, reduced operational costs, and a major step forward in sustainability and energy independence for the region.
